John William Everhart, of near Lovettsville, Va., died early Monday morning at Leesburg Hospital aged 58 years. He was the son of the late John Franklin and Mary Munday Everhart and was a veteran of World War I. Surviving is one brother, Guy Everhart, Lovettsville. The body rests at the funeral home in Brunswick where friends may call. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday with prayers at the funeral home at 10a.m. est and final rites on arrival at Mt. Olivet Church near Lovettsville. Rev. Edward h. Kyles, will officiate. Full military honors will be accorded at the graveside, by the honor and color guards of Steadman-Keenan Post 96, American Legion of Brunswick. Interment in the church cemetery. C. H. Born April 3, 1856 near Lovettsville he was a son of the late John and Mary Christing Everhart. In 1888 he moved to the Neersville community where he had lived since. His wife, Mrs. Emma Potts Everhart died in 1940. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Effie Everhart of Jefferson, Md., one son H. Milford Everhart, Neersville. In November he was elected as grand marshal of the Brunswick Veterans Day Parade. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Mildred Dolan Lowry; a son, William Sherman Lowry Jr. of Bradenton, Fla.; four grandchildren, Linda S. Veinot and William D. Lowry, both of St. Louis, Mo., Debra A. Killalea of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Michael Lowry of Middletown, Md.; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She is survived by six children, Robert Bob Baker of Winchester, Va., Mary Irene Suzie Mitchell of Churchville, Va., Ginny Donohue of Hamilton, Va., Pauline Francis Hamilton of Ranson, W.Va., Patsy Russell of Leesburg, Va., and Jo Ann Burdick of Purcellsville, Va.; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Mt. Olivet Methodist church, near Lovettsville on Tuesday, for Mrs. Annie M. Shumaker, 66, who died at her home after being ill for several weeks. She had been in Schnauffer?s Hospital but was moved to her home ten days prior to her death. She was the wife of Luther Shumaker and the daughter of the late John Samuel Arnold and Lydia Everhart Arnold, all of Loudoun. Services were conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Stanley Emerich at Mt. Olivet Church, of which she was a member, and interment was in the cemetery by the church. Mrs. Arnold was the daughter of the Benjamin and Mary Sabina Crumbaker Cooper. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ardith Bramhall and Mrs. Doris Jacobs of Lovettsville; one son, Alston Arnold of Lovettsville; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild of Lovettsville. Funeral Services were conducted Aug. 19 from the Brown Funeral Home, Lovettsville, with the Rev. Michael Kretsinger officiating. Interment was in the Lovettsville Union Cemetery.

Arnold, she was a daughter of late Henry and Rose Virts Nisewarner of near Lovettsville. Surviving are one son, Carroll Arnold and one daughter, Mrs. Floyd Pearson of near Lovettsville. Four sisters, Mrs. Paul Beagles, Hamilton, Mrs. Robert Joyner, Washington, Mrs. Henry Butler, Front Royal and Mrs. Harry S. Potterfield, Lovettsville. Mrs. Arnold and her son had operated a grocery store since the death of her husband, 13 years ago. Prior to that, she and her husband operated the sotre for 39 years. Form more than half a century Arnold's Store has been known in Lovettsville neighborhood, serving the surrounding countryside for a number of years as post office before there was rural delivery. Interment was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Meredith Arnold Baker, 74, of Round Hill died Feb. 17 at Loudoun Hospital Center in Leesburg. He was born Aug. 23, 1919, in Lovettsville the son of the late George Mark and Ina Rachel Arnold Baker. A veteran of World War II, he had been employed as a heavy-equipment operator for the Virginia Department of Transportation. Survivors include his wife, Janey H. Baker of Round Hill; daughter Joan Ahalt of Leesburg; sister Catherine Virts of Lovettsville; grandson Larry Baker Jr.; granddaughters Rachel Baker and Leslie Kelly; and great-grand-child Drew Kelly. A son, Larry Meredith Baker, preceded him in death. The funeral was held Feb. 17 at Hall Funeral Home in Purcellville, Robert A. Richards officiating followed by interment in the Lovettsville Union Cemetery. Pallbearers were Terry Schwinn, Leo Virts, Edward McNeill, John Sisk, Tim Hindman, and Edward Hindman. Calvin Leslie Everhart, "King Fish," 95, a lifelong resident of Lovettsville, Va., died June 21, 2008, in Louisa, Va. Mr. Everhart was born April 25, 1915, in Lovettsville to the late Charles Lincoln and Mary Melva Evans Everhart. His wife of 70 years, Dorothy Wenner Everhart; son, Carlton Leslie Everhart; granddaughter, Jeannie Everhart; and a daughter-in-law, Joan L. Everhart also predeceased him. Mr. Everhart worked on the family farm for many years as a young man. He had also worked with the B&O Railroad, Brunswick, from 1944 until diesel locomotives took over for steam engines in 1959. Perhaps he was best known as "a junk man," as he proudly called himself. He operated a junkyard located at his home on South Church Street in Lovettsville from 1939 to 1975. Mr. Everhart was a lifelong member of the Lovettsville Fire Dept. Mr. Everhart helped the Lovettsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue run their bingo games on Saturday nights for more than 15 years. Mr. Everhart was also a charter member of the Lovettsville Game Protection Association. Mr. Everhart is survived by one son, Milford Eugene Everhart of Mineral, Va.; one daughter-in-law, Elizabeth M. Everhart of Hagerstown; one brother, Charles Everhart of Lovettsville, Va.; three grandsons, Richard, Paul, Glenn; and seven great-grandchildren. Following visitation from noon to 1 p.m., a funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 25, at Brown/Loudoun Funeral Chapels, 34 E. Broad Way, Lovettsville, with Rev. Mr. Everhart was a lifelong member of the Lovettsville Fire Dept. Mr. Everhart helped the Lovettsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue run their bingo games on Saturday nights for more than 15 years. Mr. Everhart was also a charter member of the Lovettsville Game Protection Association. Mr. Everhart is survived by one son, Milford Eugene Everhart of Mineral, Va.; one daughter-in-law, Elizabeth M. Everhart of Hagerstown; one brother, Charles Everhart of Lovettsville, Va.; three grandsons, Richard, Paul, Glenn; and seven great-grandchildren. Following visitation from noon to 1 p.m., a funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 25, at Brown/Loudoun Funeral Chapels, 34 E. Broad Way, Lovettsville, with Rev.
